At UIC Law, we are committed to teaching students the art and practice of advocacy. Through our nationally ranked Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Program, students develop the essential skills needed to represent a client effectively—from their initial meeting through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and trial. This research guide provides links and descriptions to many of the law library's trial advocacy and dispute resolution resources.
Many resources listed in these guides are available electronically via our subscription databases. Current law students, faculty, and staff can access these resources with their UIC NetID and password. Other resources, such as Westlaw and Lexis, require individual user accounts and passwords.
Need more help? Reference librarians are available to meet with students in one-on-one sessions (or in small groups) to discuss research strategies, recommend relevant resources or review specific topics of legal research.
Contact law-library@uic.edu or call the Reference Desk at 312-427-2737 ext. 729 with the subject you're researching and when you would like to meet. A librarian will get back to you to set up an appointment. You can also schedule an appointment on the library homepage by clicking "Schedule an Online Research Appointment." We ask that you request your appointment at least 2 days in advance, but remember that you can always stop by the reference desk for immediate help with a quick research question.
