Distance Education: Home

This guide will direct you to, and help you use, the resources you need to be successful in UIC Law's distance education courses.

Distance Education at UIC Law

This guide is here to help you navigate the resources and services offered by the Louis L. Biro Law Library. Even if you're completing your course work a world away from Chicago, you have access to the resources you need to excel. Note that you also have access to a variety of resources through the UIC Library.

Research Questions

Our reference librarians are happy to help you with any research questions, big or small, wherever you are in the research process. You can reach a reference librarian by calling 312-427-2737 ext. 729 or using the chat feature on the library home page. You can request a one-on-one research appointment by contacting law-library@uic.edu or by clicking "Schedule an Online Research Appointment" on the library homepage.

Technology Issues

These questions go to the Help Desk. You can request assistance from the Help Desk by email at law-helpdesk@uic.edu. You can reach the Help Desk by phone at 312-427-2737 ext. 550, and if you're in Chicago, you can find the Help Desk office across from the elevators on the 7th floor of the State Street building.

Circulation Services and InterLibrary Loan

Distance education students are welcome to use and check out items from the print collection as well as use our interlibrary loan services. We do not, however, ship materials, so students must come to the library to pick up anything they would like to check out.

If an item you need is not in our collection, you may request it through the interlibrary loan (ILL) process. We participate in I-Share, which you can search through our catalog. For sources unavailable through I-Share, our ILL process operates through WorldCat, a catalog that searches libraries across the globe. For more on ILL, please visit this FAQ page.
