Guide for 1Ls: Library

Library Hours

These hours reflect when circulation services are available. The library is open for studying during school-wide building hours.

Mon - Thurs  

7:00 am - 11:00 pm

Friday

7:00 am - 10:00 pm

Sat-Sun

9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Library hours are subject to change during holiday and break periods. Upcoming changes in hours, including closures, are noted on the library website.

Study Rooms

Students may reserve study rooms here. Students can reserve a group study room on the 6th, 8th, 9th, or 10th floor for two or more students.

If a room is not in use or otherwise reserved, you may use a room without reserving it. 

Borrowing Materials

Students may check out library materials with a UIC ID at the circulation desk on the 6th floor.  See the Circulation Services page for information on loan periods for library materials.

Reference & Research Assistance

Reference Librarians are available to assist students with finding and using electronic resources and items in the library.

Reference Librarians also provide guidance on research projects and papers.  All our Reference Librarians have dual degrees in both law and information science.

CALI Lessons

The Center for Computer Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI) provides more than 600 interactive computer-based tutorials to assist students in understanding a wide range of legal subjects. Stop by the reference desk for an authorization code if you have not yet registered for CALI.
