A good starting point for researching this area is the main UIC library catalog, which includes books and articles across multiple disciplines. Searching the catalog searches UIC's Daley Library, the Louis L. Biro Law Library, and the UIC Health Sciences libraries in Chicago, Peoria, and Rockford. The scope of searches can be limited to articles and journals, many of which are available in full text.
Google Scholar provides a search mechanism to locate scholarly literature across multiple disciplines, including law. Search results on campus will indicate whether the source is available full text through a Loyola database. Off campus, users may go to the "Settings" link and then "Library Links" to set up results that show links to LUC full-text databases.
Westlaw and Lexis both offer a variety of resources related to health law and policy. These databases are only available to members of the UIC Law school community with Westlaw and Lexis passwords.
In Westlaw Precision, choose "Health Law" under "Practice Areas." Note that there is a "Health Policy Tracking Service" available on the right side of the screen. From Westlaw Precision, you can also toggle to "Practical Law," which is a separate online West product. Within Practical Law, select "Health Care."
In Lexis+, choose "Healthcare Law," under "Practice Areas." From Lexis+, you can also toggle to "Law360." Every business day, Law360 publishes more than 175 articles across 40+ practice, industry, and state sections. It’s a one-stop source for legal news and analysis. Choose the "Health" newsletter for news related to health law and health policy (within "See all sections").
